SUCCESS STORIES

Commercial application for retrofit buildings

Retrofit Buildings

HOMY has commissioned several commercial Vicot Gas Heat Pumps in commercial and multi-res buildings to preheat the cold water supplied to existing boilers for domestic hot water heating. The primary objective of these projects was to minimize the existing boiler operation, with efficiencies below 100%, and shift a significant portion of the energy load to the Gas Heat Pumps. The project has demonstrated impressive results through data collection and continuous efficiency monitoring, showcasing a substantial reduction of over 20 to 50% in energy consumption within a year. The outcomes underscore the promising potential of integrating Gas Heat Pumps into the existing system, offering economic and environmental benefits.

Carbon Capture Application

Data acquisition and monitoring

HOMY actively participates in various energy monitoring initiatives. In recent engagements, we were engaged with two carbon capture projects. Our contribution involved delivering a specialized data acquisition and analytical platform, leveraging an inventive and interactive high temperature CO2 measuring technology developed by our expert team.

In the HVAC industry, the acquisition and monitoring of parameters are pivotal. HOMY has pioneered innovative approaches for data collection, offering a dedicated platform for real-time access and control. Through this method, clients can discern system efficiency, enabling them to implement necessary measures to decrease energy consumption and enhance project efficiency.

HYBRID SOLUTIONS BY HOMY

HOMY has conducted various research studies and developed innovative hybrid solutions tailored to diverse applications. Our recent initiatives include commissioning Dual-fuel rooftop packaged units in two commercial projects to assess system efficiency using gas and electricity across various ambient temperatures. The evaluation helps us to gain insights to create efficient solutions for different applications, contributing to energy savings and reduced emission levels.

HOMY implemented hybrid solutions in different projects, such as installing a Gas absorption heat pump with an EVI DC inverter electrical heat pump or commissioning dual fuel rooftop package to evaluate the module performance and efficiency. These endeavours are geared towards optimizing energy efficiency and overall system performance by combining multiple technologies and energy sources.

A hybrid HVAC system integrates traditional and renewable energy sources, optimizing efficiency by dynamically switching between them based on weather and energy costs. This flexibility improves energy performance and aligns with sustainability goals for eco-friendly climate control in residential and commercial settings.

The benefits of implementing a hybrid solution in HVAC include:

  • Energy Efficiency: Hybrid systems can leverage the strengths of different technologies, such as combining a traditional furnace with a heat pump. This flexibility allows the system to operate more efficiently, choosing the most energy-efficient option based on current conditions.

  • Cost Savings: By utilizing the most cost-effective energy source at any given time, hybrid HVAC systems can reduce energy bills. For instance, a heat pump can be more economical in moderate temperatures, while a furnace may be more efficient in extreme cold.

  • Environmental Impact: Hybrid systems often incorporate renewable energy sources, such as solar or geothermal power, reducing the overall environmental impact. This aligns with sustainability goals and helps lower the carbon footprint of HVAC operations.

  • Adaptability: Hybrid systems can adapt to varying climate conditions and changing energy costs. They provide a versatile solution that can switch between different energy sources based on demand, weather conditions, or energy pricing.

  • Enhanced Comfort: By combining different technologies, hybrid HVAC systems can provide a more consistent and comfortable indoor environment. For example, a heat pump’s ability to both heat and cool makes it a versatile component in a hybrid system.

  • Reduced Dependency on Fossil Fuels: Integrating renewable energy sources into a hybrid system reduces reliance on traditional fossil fuels, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure.

  • Government Incentives: In some regions, there may be financial incentives or tax credits for adopting hybrid HVAC systems, especially if they incorporate renewable energy components. These incentives can offset the initial installation costs.

  • Increased Reliability: Hybrid systems can offer increased reliability by having backup options. If one component fails or is less efficient under certain conditions, the system can seamlessly switch to an alternative source, maintaining overall functionality.

Residential application

Space heating and domestic hot water

HOMY has commissioned several Vicot residential Gas heat pumps to meet the hot water demands for space heating and domestic use. Our residential models, available in 20 kW and 35 kW, ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.

Vicot residential Gas heat pumps efficiently provide hot water, meeting expectations with desirable performance. Vicot GAHP maintains desirable capacity in cold ambient temperatures and is an efficient and reliable system to provide hot water for residential applications.

Natural Gas Distribution Supply
at the Gate Stations

HOMY is working on a project to heat the natural gas supply of a gate station in Ontario with Vicot Gas Heat Pumps all year round when the temperature of the main gas line to the district drops below zero due to the pressure reduction process.

The intention is to replace the existing boilers with the high-efficiency GHP to reduce the emissions by 40 to 55%.

MOVE TOWARD DECARBONIZATION WITH
VICOT SOLAR THERMAL SOLUTION

Vicot presents the automatic parabolic trough collectors. solar energy solution widely acclaimed for its efficiency and versatility. They can be integrated with Gas Absorption Heat pumps for different applications such as district heating. This collector stands out in medium- and high-temperature solar collectors, featuring a sturdy frame, glass reflector mirror, vacuum receiver, automatic wiper, and sun-tracking device.

They have an impressive thermal energy conversion efficiency of up to 75%; these collectors ensure optimal absorption and transformation of solar energy during sunlight hours. The automatic wiper removes dust on the mirror and vacuum receiver, guaranteeing consistent conversion efficiency and sparing users from tedious cleaning tasks. Installation is flexible, fitting seamlessly on building rooftops or open, shadow-free land, making it an ideal choice for sustainable energy solutions.
